I’d like to share a bit about me. I have been very fortunate to travel a lot, as I work in the travel industry. I used to work on cruise ships, which allowed me to see much of the world. My experience working on Celebrity Cruises was an amazing, life-changing time for me.
As a big tv/movie/pop culture fan, I’ve been interested in the filming industry for years. When I was in high school, I did several projects on the history of television. I would even collect books about the industry.
In 2004, a friend and I traveled to New York City for Wrestlemania XX at Madison Square Garden. Having been to the city before, we didn’t want to do the basic city tour, so we decided to book the On Locations Tour, which visits filming locations around Manhattan. The biggest highlights to me were the Ghostbusters firehouse and the Friends apartment.
In 2008 when I started working on cruise ships, I would research things to do in the various ports we would visit. I wasn’t consciously into filming locations, but I did go out of my way to visit a few. In Astoria Oregon, I drove by the Kindergarten Cop school and The Goonies house. And in San Francisco, I went to see the Full House house.
It dawned on me a few years ago that I had visited quite a number of locations, so I started to compile my photos. Then I started to make a list of other places that would interest me. Whenever I’d travel, I’d do some research and take some time to find spots to check out. This has developed into a fun hobby, and I find myself dedicating more and more of my travel time to hunt down these locations.
Through this hobby, I’ve been able to visit some locations from some of my favourite movies and shows. These include Schitt’s Creek, Lords of Dogtown, and Seinfeld. I’ve also been treated to some private visits, like at CBS Studio Center in Hollywood, the village in Billy Elliot, and Steve McGarrett’s house from Hawaii Five-0.
When I travel, I love to explore. I usually plan out which sites I want to visit. Then I grab a car rental, and book myself at the nearest Holiday Inn. I enjoy discovering local restaurants and shops as well. My experiences meeting people around the world have been exceedingly positive.
This website is designed to share my love of filming locations with all of you. I hope you’ll find it fun and informative, and reading about me and my travels. Please feel free to get in touch and leave feedback as well. I’m quite active on Instagram and Twitter, so feel free to contact me on both. There is a whole community of location hunters who share my love and passion. I hope you’ll continue to visit my site as I develop it over the following months and years.
