Good Boys is a 2019 comedy produced by Seth Rogan. The film stars Jacob Tremblay, Keith L. Williams, and Brady Noon, and the movie advertised that the stars are too young to watch the film. Good Boys was filmed in numerous locations in the Vancouver area. When I visited Vancouver in September 2021, I checked out a number of locations from the movie.
Walnut Creek Skate Park
Good boys features a number of scenes at a skate park. This is where the Bean Bag Boys check out Brixlee and her friends. These scenes were filmed at the skate park at the Walnut Creek Recreation Centre.
Yorkson Creek Middle School
Not far from the skate park is Yorkson Creek Middle School, which was used for filming school scenes in Good Boys. Both interior and exterior shots were filmed at the school. Coincidentally, star Jacob Tremblay actually attended this school in real life.
Brydon Park
When the Bean Bag Boys make arrangements to trade the molly back for their drone, they meet the older girls at a playground. These scenes were filmed at Brydon Park in Langley.
If visiting a playground or any location where there are children, please be cautious and respectful. I visited the playground at 7am when it was still empty. You can check out my location hunting guidelines here.
Later in the movie, when Max is flying the drone towards his house, it flies by a number of houses which are right next to this park. The blue corner house is particularly recognizable.
Guildford Town Centre
When the boys need to replace the drone, they head to the shopping mall. The production team used the Guildford Town Centre in Surrey for filming. The exterior of the mall seen next to a highway was CGI, as there is no highway next to the mall. Scenes of the boys running across the highway were actually filmed at an old airstrip.
The exterior entrance scene in the film is just off 152 Street by the entrance to Milestone’s Restaurant. The boys can be seen running across the parking lot and into the front doors.
Several locations inside the mall were also used. This includes an escalator as the boys race down and through a large lobby towards the electronics store.
From studying the photos and the map of the mall, I wasn’t able to pinpoint where the electronics store was located in the mall. However, once I visited the mall, I used some screenshots to line up the shots, and can confirm the electronics store was set up in what is now Epic Menswear.
While they didn’t make the movie, some deleted scenes were also filmed in the malls food court. You can find the food court right at the entrance of the mall mentioned above.
Abbotsford City Hall
The scenes where Lily chases the boys on their bikes were filmed at Abbotsford City Hall. At first you can see the boys riding their bikes off S Fraser Street and down the main entrance to the building.
Next we see them head down a couple sets of stairs on their bikes, followed closely by Lily.
Lily next chases Lucas around the fountain at the back of the building. The fountain was drained when I visited, but you can still see where the water would normally be.
Finally, Lucas ends up flying off his bike and hitting a truck. This was filmed at the back of the building behind the fountain. There is actually a Royal Canadian Air Force Memorial, which was not seen in the movie, but this is right where this scene was filmed.
Memorial Peace Park
Scenes where the boys get their new drone and Max flies it back to his house were filmed at Memorial Peace Park in Maple Ridge, BC. The gazebo and cenotaph can be seen as the drone flies out of the park. A number of Canadian businesses can be seen in the background as well, like The Medicine Shoppe and a CIBC Bank.
In addition, the scene where Hannah and Lily are walking and drinking soda is also filmed at the park, right outside the ACT Arts Centre.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t track down the locations for any of the houses featured in the film. Based on the architecture and design, I would imagine they were filmed in Langley, but I couldn’t figure out the locations. If anyone has any info on this, please let me know in the comments below.
