While Dog The Bounty Hunter has filmed in a variety of locations, the show was based at the offices of Da Kine Bail Bonds in Honolulu. This office is the headquarters of Dog and his family run business. It was used in every episode, as the team would discuss their plans and strategies for tracking down suspects.
The office and business are real, and despite being used for filming, this office was conducting regular day-to-day business as well. The office featured in the show was their home until 2019. The business needed to relocate due to redevelopment of the building.
When I visited in 2005 with my cousin, we just expected to get some photos of the building. We saw a sign on the door that said “Do Not Disturb: Filming In Progress. We took a few photos outside and then decided to move on. As we walked towards the bus, someone stuck his head out of the front door and said “Do you guys want to come in and meet Dog?” Who would say no to that?
We went in, and got to chat with Dog for a few minutes. He was very kind and friendly, and signed autographs and took photos. Unfortunately, my photo turned out blurry, but it’s good enough to recognize him.
It was a really cool bonus to be able to meet Dog while we were there. It was certainly unexpected.
