Superstore was a sitcom that aired on NBC from 2015 to 2021. It starred America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Mark McKinney, and an large ensemble cast. America left the series in the final season, but returned for the final episode.
The series was set in a fictional Cloud 9 store 1217 located in St. Louis. Cloud 9 was a big-box department store and was shown to be a competitor to stores like Walmart and Target. Superstore was filmed on several stages at Universal Studios in Hollywood.
Cloud 9 Exterior
Universal built a large facade in a studio parking lot for the exterior of the Cloud 9 store. This facade was used throughout the series for the many scenes that took place out front of the store. The facade was in the northeast corner of the studio lot, and it could be viewed from the street. It was located near the corner of Barham Blvd and Forest Lawn Drive.

After the show ended, the facade was torn down, and new soundstages have been built in that space. For a time, the Cloud 9 set was visible on Google Maps.

Universal Studios Soundstages
The first two seasons were filmed on Universal Studios stages 21 and 22. These soundstages were part of a group of stages that were demolished in 2017 to make room for expansion. Because of this, the production moved to sound stages 16 and 17. The changes were written into the show when a tornado destroyed the store and it had to be rebuilt. Stage 21 was also used for swing sets.

Raise The Wage Protest
In the fifth season episode “Carol’s Back” Jonah and Cheyanne take part in a protest outside Gateway Subs. This portion of the episode was filmed on the backlot at Universal Studios. It was right across from the Clocktower from Back To The Future, even though it isn’t shown.
