Murder Mystery 2 is a Netflix sequel film released in 2023. It stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston as Nick and Audrey Spitz, who runs an unsuccessful private investigation business. They are invited to attend the wedding of their friend, Vikram, on his private island. After Vikram is kidnapped, they head to Paris to rescue him.
Kualoa Ranch
Scenes set at Vikram’s private island were filmed at Kualoa Ranch on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. The ranch is a large property with a wide variety of locations. The production used the area next to Moli’i Pond, which has a pier area. They added a helicopter pad at the end, and filmed the scenes where Vikram and his fiance greet Audrey and Nick.
Kualoa Ranch is a popular filming spot, having appeared in the Jurassic Park franchise, Hawaii Five-0, Lost, and many others. The helicopter pier seen in the movie is the same spot as the Hukilau Cafe from 50 First Dates.
Ko Olina Lagoons
Some of Murder Mystery 2’s lagoon shots were filmed at Lanikuhonua Lagoon, on Oahu’s leeward coast. I don’t have any personal photos of this small lagoon, but it is very close to Ko Olina Lagoon, where Blue Crush was filmed.
Arc De Triomphe
The kidnappers tell the Spitz’s to bring the ransom money to Paris. They set up a meet at the Arc de Triomphe. This monument is located at the end of the Champs-Elysees.
Palais Garnier Opera House
The Spitz’s find Inspector Delacroix attending the opera at the Palais Garnier. He is seated in a private box. The Palais Garnier was made famous in the novel and musical The Phantom Of The Opera.
The Eiffel Tower
Much of the action at the end of the movie takes place at the Eiffel Tower, including the observation deck and the Jules Verne Restaurant. Due to the stunts involved, the production used some recreated sets, however there are a number of shots of the real tower in Paris.
The Eiffel Tower opened in 1889 for the World’s Fair. It is one of the most recognizable and visited attractions in the world. Of course, no visit to Paris is complete without a visit.
Pont Des Arts Bridge
The Pont Des Arts Bridge is a pedestrian-only bridge in downtown Paris. It has become a popular location for couples to attach a metal lock to grate. Over the years, the city has had to remove the locks from time to time. The extra weight causes a safety hazard to the bridge. There are now grates on the sides for visitors to attach locks to. The bridge appears near the end of the movie when Nick and Audrey are given a special gift sent from Vikram.
The Acropolis
In the very last scene of Murder Mystery 2, we see the Spitz’s flying over Athens. The brief shot features the Parthenon and the Acropolis. This closes out the movie and sets up a possible third film.
