In recent years, Atlanta has become a hotspot for filming due to state tax exemptions. It has quickly gained the nickname “Hollywood South” thanks to the many productions in the area.
On This Site…
On recent trips, I’ve had the chance to visit filming locations from popular productions like Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, and Love Simon.
Don’t Miss
Georgia Aquarium
One of the biggest and best aquariums anywhere, the Georgia Aquarium is one of Atlanta’s biggest attractions. It opened in 2005 and features beluga whales, whale sharks, bottle-nose dolphins, and sealions.
World of Coca-Cola Museum
The World of Coca-Cola opened in 2007, replaced an older museum. This attraction has displays about the history of Coca-Cola and it’s various products. There is a particular focus on it’s advertising over the years.
Perhaps the highlight of the museum is the “Taste It” experience. This area allows you to sample various beverages from around the world. It is included in your admission price. It is really fun to taste the various drinks that the Coca-Cola company sells internationally. Be warned, many are tasty but a few are not!
How To Get Around
While Atlanta has a public transit system, most of the filming locations will require a car to get to. They are quite spread out around the Atlanta area. The city is fairly easy to navigate but drivers are very speedy.
