Grace and Frankie is a comedy series starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as the title characters. Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen play their ex husbands, who have fallen in love. Grace and Frankie end up sharing their beach house when their husbands move in together. The series debuted on Netflix in 2015 and ran for seven seasons. The final season’s production was delayed due to the Covid Pandemic. The final episodes of season 7 became available in April of 2022.
The Beach House
While the series takes place in San Diego, it was actually filmed in the Los Angeles area. The show used a house along the Malibu coast as it’s main setting. The house sits right on the beach, and is often seen from the back where it faces the ocean.

The front of the house has also been seen on occasion. The unassuming house features a double garage facing the quiet local road just off the Pacific Coastal Highway. The house can be found at 31212 Broad Beach Rd. Please keep in mind this house is a private residence. The beach area behind the house is open to the public, but please be respectful and don’t trespass.

Frankie’s Funeral
In the final season, Frankie decides to host her own funeral. She wanted people to come and pay respects to her, even though she hasn’t actually died. These scenes were filmed at Leo Carrillo Beach in Malibu. This same beach has been featured in other productions like The Good Place and The Karate Kid.
The final scene of Grace and Frankie was also filmed on this same beach.

Robert and Sol’s Hotel
In the series finale, Robert and Sol have a lovely scene where they revisit the hotel where they first kissed years ago. We see both the main lobby and the elevators. This is the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, which was also used in Ghostbusters.

Paramount Studios
The series filmed it’s interior scenes at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. The show used Stages 23 and 24 throughout it’s run. Paramount offers tours to the public, which visit some soundstages as well as the backlot. If you are interested in the industry and the history of Paramount, I highly recommend these tours.
