Uncle Buck, the comedy film starring John Candy, was released in 1989. Similar to other John Hughes films like Home Alone and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, it was filmed in the Chicago area.
The Russell House
In the plot, Uncle Buck goes to stay with his nieces and nephew. Their parents need to go out of town in an emergency so they call Buck. The house featured in the film is located at 2602 Lincoln Street in Evanston, Illinois.

The House Across the Street
In an indication of how inept Buck is, he first goes to the wrong house. The house is located across the street from the Russell’s house, just as depicted in the film.

Buck’s Apartment
The apartment belonging to Uncle Buck is located at 3708 North Sheffield Avenue. It is right next to Wrigley Field in Chicago. The Chicago Cubs sign can be seen next to the apartment.

New Trier West High School
The high school featured in Uncle Buck is located at 7 Happ Road in Northfield, Illinois. The school bus drop-off area in front of the school is where Buck drives up in his Mercury Marquis Brougham. His car, which he calls “The Beast”, backfires and causes quite a scene.
