Thirtysomething was a drama series that aired on ABC from 1987 to 1991. Despite only airing for four season, the show was a ratings and critical success. It won 13 Prime Time Emmy Awards, including Best Drama in it’s debut season. The show ended up being canceled after the producers wished to focus on films.
The series featured an ensemble cast including Ken Olin, Mel Harris, Timothy Busfield, and Patricia Wettig. The show was set in Philadelphia, but as is standard in Hollywood television, it was filmed in the Los Angeles area.
Michael and Hope’s House
Michael and Hope’s house is located at 1710 Bushnell Ave in South Pasadena. This short residential street is a popular filming location. A number of movies, TV shows, and commercials have used this street, including Back To The Future, Teen Wolf, and Old School.




Film Studio
The interior scenes of Thirtysomething were filmed on a soundstage at Sony Pictures Studios. At the time, the historic studio was known as MGM Studios, and is located in Culver City. The studio offers public tours, which you can find here.
