Prior to conquering the world, The Bieb’s was born and raised in Stratford, Ontario. Justin Bieber’s hometown of Stratford sits on the Avon river, and both the town and the river were named after Stratford-Upon-Avon in England.
Justin’s Former Home
Justin was raised by his mother and they lived with his grandparents in this house. The house is no longer owned by anyone connected to Justin Bieber or his family.
Justin’s Birthplace
Justin Bieber was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital, located in nearby London, Ontario. While Stratford does have a hospital, London is a larger city with more facilities and a bigger maternity ward.
Justin’s Hockey Arena
As many Canadians do, Justin grew up playing hockey. Justin played for the Stratford Warriors, the local team which plays at the William Allman Memorial Arena. This arena opened in 1924 and is located right in the centre of Stratford, along the Avon river.
Justin’s Skatepark
Justin Bieber is well known for skateboarding, as he’s participated in the sport since he was young. His fame and fortune have not taken him away from his love of skating, as he is often spotted skating during his travels, and even shows up at local skate parks.
He got his start at the Stratford skatepark, which used to be located on Downie Street just near Falstaff Drive. The city has since upgraded to a much better park located a block away in Shakespeare Park. Justin has also been spotted at this new park while in town.
The Stratford Festival
In keeping with the connection to it’s English inspiration, Stratford is home to the Stratford Festival, a large Theatre Festival that puts on performances of Shakespeare’s plays and other productions throughout much of the year. The Stratford Festival began in 1952 as an outdoor festival, but has grown to include 4 theatres where over a dozen productions are produced each year.
One of the theatres, the Avon Theatre, located in downtown Stratford, is well known for a spot where Justin Bieber would busk on the front steps. Justin now has his own star on Stratford’s Walk of Fame, right in front of those steps.
If you get to visit, make sure you take some time to see some shows at the Stratford Festival. They also offer lots of other options, like behind the scenes tours, concerts, lectures, and more special events.
If you are visiting Justin Bieber’s hometown, make sure you take a stroll along the river. This picturesque walk takes you from the Festival Theatre to downtown.
Justin’s Current Home
While his main residence is in the Los Angeles area, Justin Bieber bought a large house and estate several years ago in Cambridge, which is close to his hometown of Stratford.
The house is very private and can’t be seen from the road. There are also plenty of security features and fences to keep people out. It’s honestly not worth driving by, as there is nothing to see, and Justin is rarely there. However, if you are really curious, I took a drive by and snapped some photos to satisfy your curiousity.
